Guidelines, moderation, and integrity.
Short rules that keep discussion precise, kind, and useful — and protect everyone's learning.
Code of conduct
Six rules.
- 01
Be precise and generous
Explain your reasoning, define your notation, and assume good faith in others.
- 02
Show your attempt
Questions should include what you tried and where it stops. Posts that only ask for answers are declined.
- 03
Respect academic integrity
Do not post current graded assignments, quizzes, or exam questions, and do not complete them for others.
- 04
Separate claims from conjectures
Say whether something is a classical result, a result from a source, or your own idea. Cite sources.
- 05
Keep it mathematical
No advertising, solicitation, or off-topic material. No personal information about yourself or others.
- 06
Disagree with arguments, not people
Point to the step you doubt. Harassment or dismissive language leads to removal.
Moderation policy
How content is reviewed.
- Every post and reply is reviewed by a moderator before it becomes public.
- Moderators may decline or remove content that breaks these guidelines. Declined submissions are never shown publicly.
- Anyone may report a published post or reply. Reports are reviewed privately.
- Repeated or serious violations lead to suspension of posting.
- Moderation decisions can be questioned privately through the contact page.
Academic integrity
The line we hold everywhere.
In the community
- Do not post current graded assignments, quizzes, or exam questions.
- Do not complete such work for others, even when asked.
- Show your own attempt; explanations should help the asker reason, not copy.
- Cite sources and label your own ideas as your own.
In sessions and services
- Graded assignments, quizzes, and exams remain the student's own work.
- No help is given during a live assessment.
- When a problem looks like current assessed work, sessions use parallel examples instead.
- The aim of every session is that you can do the next problem without help.
- No ghostwriting, co-authorship by default, or claims of review or endorsement.
